Mar 13 2018 Hotel Football, Manchester Champion solution: Metsec provides top flight framing at Hotel Football Light gauge structural steel specialist, voestalpine Metsec plc, has supported the development of the innovative, high-spec Hotel Football at Old Trafford, by providing 4000 square meters of SFS infill walling. Located within a short distance of Old Trafford, the world-famous home of Manchester United, the £16m hotel boasts a state of the art football pitch on its roof. In specifying SFS infill walling, the Hotel Football construction gained the advantage of utilising an extremely versatile form of steel framing. This allowed the construction team on site to install the system from the inside of the building, removing the need to work at height as well as affording extra working space. Through using SFS infill walling, the end result was a much easier build, reducing the time spent on site, as well as being more cost effective than traditional alternative construction methods. Stephen Ginger, Managing Director of Metsec Purlins & Framing, commented:“Hotel Football is an extremely prestigious project for us to be working on, and is a construction of genuine interest to the local area and football fans alike. The fact the hotel has a football pitch on the roof makes it an extremely impressive development. We’re thrilled to have been able to supply 4000 square meters of SFS infill walling for the hotel, which is now open and attracting visitors.” Rob Deakin, Senior Project Manager at Galliford Try, commented:“Hotel Football was an extremely challenging job on a very tight site, with a canal on one side and major dual carriageway on the other. The versatility afforded by the SFS infill walling system proved to be an excellent solution to overcome some of the issues we had with the project.
