Metsec supplied over 200 tonnes of light gauge, galvanised steel zed purlins and side rails to the £54 million Rioch Arena home of Coventry City FC. The complex also includes a hotel, exhibition and conference facilities.

Wind loading was critical in the design of the stadium roof support with high uplift values being encountered. Metsec engineers used their MetSPEC building shell design software to calculate loadings of between 1.065 kN/m² and 3.038 kN/m². The program identified that a mixture of heavy end bay purlins and a butt system was the most structurally efficient and cost effective solution.
